History of Greystone Manor B&B

Built in 1908, Greystone Manor was converted into a B&B guest house in 1988. It is fully licensed and inspected by the City of Niagara Falls. Your host, Rob, purchased this Niagara Falls bed and breakfast in 2008 and has spent his days restoring this historic century home to its original splendour. Wherever possible, Rob has retained the original architecture of this home, including the original hardwood floors, crown mouldings and intricate woodwork.

In the calm of the morning or evening, from the grounds at Greystone Manor Bed and Breakfast, you can hear the Niagara Falls rumbling with their immense power.

In the morning, guests gather in the B&B's grand dining room for a full, hot breakfast and great conversation. Rob, as a dedicated bed and breakfast owner, can offer suggestions of the things to do and see while you are in Niagara Falls. To take full advantage of your Niagara Falls holiday, it would be best if you could plan to spend a few days here. The Goal for this Niagara Falls B&B

A street view of Greystone Manor Bed and Breakfast prior to 1936.Rob's goal is to provide his bed and breakfast guests with a clean and comfortable room, a tasty home-cooked breakfast and a memorable experience while you are visiting one of the most unique areas of the world. The Niagara Escarpment is recognised as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. While we recognise that there are a lot of bed and breakfasts, guest houses, inns, hotels and motels to choose from while visiting Niagara Falls, we believe we offer our guests a more personalised service and a more comfortable environment while sharing our home with them during their stay in the Niagara Falls Region.

Niagara Falls Trivia:

The Horseshoe Falls are 57 metres (180 feet) high and allow 168,000 cubic metres (6 million cubic feet) of water over the crestline every minute during peak daytime tourist hours (that is about a million bathtubs full of water every minute!).

The word Niagara comes from the word "onguiaahra" which means "a strait", but the common romantic meaning is "thundering waters".

Annie Taylor "Queen of the Mist" , a school teacher from Bay City Michigan was first person to travel over the Falls in a barrel on October 24, 1901.

The Niagara River flows at approximately 56.3 kmph or
35 mph

The beautiful green colour of the Niagara River comes from the dissolved salts and very finely ground rock. Estimated 60 tons of dissolved minerals are swept over Niagara Falls every minute.

The brown foam below Niagara Falls is a natural result of tons of water plummeting into the depths below. The brown color is clay, which contains suspended particles of decayed vegetative matter. It is mostly from the shallow eastern basin of Lake Erie. (It is NOT pollution!)
